Houston Christian University (HCU) and the Blinn College District have announced a new transfer partnership that will provide Blinn students with clear, affordable pathways to bachelor’s degrees in cyber engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science from HCU.
Through the transfer and co-enrollment agreement, Blinn electrical engineering students can apply their credits toward a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor of Science in Cyber Engineering from HCU, and Blinn computer science students can apply their credits toward a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from HCU.
“We are truly grateful for this partnership with Blinn College,” Houston Christian University President Robert Sloan said. “Blinn has a great history and is an outstanding institution with strong and thoughtful leadership. We are honored to enter into this enrollment agreement and are confident it will benefit students and programs in both our institutions.”
“Blinn is proud to partner with Houston Christian University to provide students with a streamlined pathway toward their engineering bachelor’s degree,” said Dr. Mary Hensley, Chancellor of the Blinn College District. “This collaboration marks a significant opportunity for our students, opening exciting new degree pathways for the next generation of engineers and innovators.”
As part of this agreement, HCU will waive the application frees for Blinn students and employees and will provide an HCU Transfer Merit Award Scholarship for qualifying undergraduate students or a 33% tuition discount for transfers admitted with at least a 2.0 GPA, whichever is greater. Phi Theta Kappa honors society students in good standing will receive an additional $3,000 scholarship per year.
Students who enroll in an online degree program at HCU will have their application fee waived and will receive a 15% tuition discount. Blinn students who are on active military duty and veterans will receive a discounted tuition rate of $250 per credit hour when they submit an LES or DD-214.
HCU awarded $38 million in scholarships and grants last year and over 95% of undergraduates receive financial aid. With a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio and 2,780 undergraduate students, HCU’s small, highly interactive classes and dedicated faculty mentors ensure a personalized academic experience and enhanced opportunities for every student to succeed.
The premier two-year college in Texas, Blinn’s academic transfer rate is the highest in the state of Texas and far exceeds the statewide average. Blinn students save 39.4% in tuition and fees compared to the average Texas public university and have access to more than 300 endowed scholarships through a single application.
