Our Mission
The Blinn College District Office of Safety and Risk Management operates under the leadership of the Business and Finance Division in support of the District's mission to provide quality, comprehensive education and empower students to achieve excellence in their educational and personal goals. Through the Unified Campus Safety Program (UCSP), the Office of Safety and Risk Management develops and implements effective solutions that ensure healthy and safe operations across all Blinn campuses. The program is designed to protect students, faculty, staff, and visitors; foster an "attitude and culture of safety;" exceed regulatory compliance standards; and effectively manage foreseeable hazards and risks.
Our Goals
The Blinn College District’s Unified Campus Safety Program (UCSP) is a singular institutional safety and risk management initiative designed to provide centralized administrative oversight to a wide variety of safety related processes, procedures, and controls across multiple district departments and several independent locations. The goals of the UCSP are accomplished by:
- Facilitating the Risk Management Process, which includes identifying and categorizing risk and hazards, analyzing and assessing the impact of the risk, evaluating the identified risk in terms of “priority” and “acceptability,” treatment of the risk, and actively monitoring and reviewing of the chosen course of action.
- Providing quality safety education and training to Blinn College District students, faculty, staff, and the community in a professional and responsive manner.
- Identifying opportunities to continuously improve Blinn College District campus and residential hall safety while promoting an "attitude and culture of safety."
- Developing policies, procedures, processes, and action plans that specifically address safety, environmental compliance, and emergency response.
- Always seeking to understand and respond to the specific needs and priorities of the Blinn College District community.
