As demand for skilled construction professionals continues to rise, employers are seeking industry newcomers familiar with basic safety principles. To meet this need, Blinn College is offering a Basic Construction Safety course at Waller High School this spring.
CNBT 1210: Basic Construction Safety will be offered at Waller High School Feb. 10 through May 6, giving students the chance to develop essential safety skills and earn valuable industry certifications in just 12 weeks. The course meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and provides students with the safety training and credentials they need to join one of the nation’s most essential and dynamic industries.
Construction continues to be one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting a need for almost 120,000 additional workers by 2033. Offering competitive wages, job stability, and opportunities for advancement, the construction industry is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a hands-on, high-demand career. Whether you’re interested in residential, commercial, or industrial projects, this course will give you the tools to begin your journey.
In CNBT 1210: Basic Construction Safety, students learn construction safety terms, identify common hazardous materials and processes, and develop a toolbox talk for on-site job safety. The course also covers safety standards for residential, commercial, and industrial construction. By the end of the course, students will earn their OSHA-10 card, start their National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certifications, and be ready to enter the industry.
This course is also a great first step toward earning a Blinn College degree or certificate in carpentry, construction management, facility maintenance, or HVAC. With multiple pathways to explore, students can customize their education to fit their goals and advance their careers.
