Hogan tops reasons division at Flint Hills livestock judging contest

Freshman team places fourth overall

Lane HoganBlinn College’s Lane Hogan was the high individual in reasons at Friday's Flint Hills Mid-America Classic livestock judging contest.

Hogan led the way for Blinn’s livestock judging sophomore team, which placed fifth in reasons at the contest in Hutchinson, Kan.

Owen Seidenberger placed seventh in reasons while Lane Higbie was sixth high individual in swine and ninth in reasons.

The Blinn freshman team was the reserve champion in reasons, with three members placing in the top 10. Ryleigh Gilfoil was fourth, Jenna Lindig was eighth, and Jhett West placed 10th. The freshman team was fourth overall, with Madison Mutina as the ninth-high individual. Austin Mathison was eighth in swine.

The livestock judging team is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including the Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture.

Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s headquarters.
