The Blinn College livestock judging teams continued their strong showings at the Tulsa (Okla.) State Fair Livestock Judging Contest.

The sophomore blue team placed second in its division with 4,172 points at the contest held Oct. 6, placing third in reasons, second in cattle, second in sheep/goats, and fifth in swine.

Blinn’s sophomore team is ranked No. 2 in the nation by Livestockjudging.com, with two first-place and three second-place finishes at its five contests this year.

At the Tulsa contest, Blinn’s freshman blue livestock judging team was first in that division with 4,113 points, winning the reasons competition and placing second in cattle, second in swine, and fourth in sheep/goats.

Holly Alderson of Blinn was high individual with 855 points in the sophomore division. Alderson was fourth in reasons, seventh in sheep/goats, and ninth in cattle.

Sophomores Blane Warnken placed sixth overall and Kinsey Gardner was 11th. Gardner was high individual in cattle. Dax DeLozier was ninth in sheep/goats.

In the freshman division, Lane Hogan was second high individual overall, placing fifth in reasons, second in swine, fifth in cattle, and fifth in sheep/goats.

Other placings for Blinn freshmen were Grant Kubala, sixth high individual and ninth in cattle; Jakob Sansom, seventh in cattle; Owen Seidenberger, ninth in reasons; and Maggie Brumnett, 10 th in swine.

In the Flint Hills Livestock Judging Contest held Sept. 29 in Hutchinson, Kan., Blinn’s sophomore teams placed second and fifth overall. That included first in sheep/goats, first in swine, third in reasons, and third and fifth in cattle.

The freshman team was third overall, placing second in sheep/goats, third in swine, fourth in cattle, and fourth in reasons.

Sophomore individual honors went to Gardner, fourth overall, fourth in reasons, third in swine, and fourth in sheep/goats; DeLozier, eighth overall, high swine individual, and third in reasons; Devyn Gaff, ninth overall, seventh in sheep/goats; Steele Kenney, 10 th overall; and Dylan Hartman, sixth in swine.

Freshmen placing were Hogan, high individual, high in reasons, third in cattle, and first in sheep/goats; Shelby Cones, eighth overall, fifth in cattle; Riley Huser, high individual in cattle; and Seidenberger, eight in sheep/goats.

Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s headquarters.
