Three Blinn faculty will hold TCCTA leadership roles this year
Dr. Patrick Gilbert, Dr. Leslie Janac, and Kwohn Whitaker will represent Blinn

Three Blinn College District faculty members will hold leadership roles for the Texas Community College Teachers Association (TCCTA) this year.
Dr. Patrick Gilbert, part-time government instructor, will serve as President of the TCCTA during the upcoming academic year. Gilbert has been with Blinn since 2011 and previously has served as TCCTA’s vice president, secretary, and treasurer, and served on TCCTA’s Legislative Committee, Professional Development Committee, and Convention Committee.
An alumnus who earned his Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Blinn, Gilbert also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Prairie View A&M University, conducted postgraduate study at the University of Houston, earned his Master of Science in Education from Capella University, and received his Ed.D. in Leadership and Management from William Howard Taft University.
Dr. Leslie Janac, English Professor, will serve as the TCCTA representative for the Bryan and RELLIS campuses. She will serve as Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee for TCCTA’s 75th anniversary this year after previously serving as Chair of the TCCTA Elections Committee.
Janac has been an instructor since 1988 and joined Blinn’s full-time faculty in 2001, teaching English Composition and Technical Writing. Earlier this year, she was recognized with a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award in recognition of her commitment to student success. Prior to coming to Blinn, Janac was an Associate Research Editor for the Texas Transportation Institute.
Janac holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Arts in English Literature from Sam Houston State University and her Ph.D. in English Literature from Texas A&M University.
Kwohn Whitaker, Business Department Head for the Division of Business and Mathematics, will serve as the TCCTA representative for the Brenham Campus and will serve as Vice Chair of the TCCTA Auditing Committee.
Whitaker has been an accounting and business professor at Blinn for six years, and previously served as a teacher for Houston and Aldine ISDs. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Purdue University, a Master of Business Administration from Belhaven University, and a Master of Science in Accounting from Prairie View A&M University.
