Nancy Berry elected Chair of the Blinn College Foundation Board of Directors
Sam Sommer will be vice-chair and Kevin Mutscher was elected secretary/treasurer

The Blinn College Foundation Board of Directors recently elected Nancy Berry, Brazos County Commissioner representing Precinct 3 and former member of the Blinn College District Board of Trustees, its new chair. Sam Sommer, whose term as Foundation Board Chair just concluded, was elected vice-chair, and Kevin Mutscher was elected secretary/treasurer.
“I am delighted to continue the positive momentum of the Blinn College Foundation and look forward to a great year working with the Blinn College District,” Berry said.
Prior to her election as a County Commissioner, Berry served as Mayor of College Station from 2010-2016 and on the city council from 2004-2006. She has served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity, Brazos Valley Symphony Society, Community Foundation of Brazos Valley, advisory board of the Junior League, is a past president of United Way and a past president of the Arts Council. Berry is also a past president of the College Station Medical Center Hospital. At the state level she has served on the boards of United Ways of Texas and the Texas Commission of the Arts. She continues to serve on the boards of the College Station ISD Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club, and Transportation Advocates of Texas.
Berry has been recognized for her dedication to public service and philanthropy: Jefferson Award; Woman of Distinction from the Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council; Outstanding Distinguished Citizen from the African American Heritage Society; You're the Tops from the Prenatal Clinic; Woman and Youth Award from the Boys and Girls Club; Making a Difference Award from the College Station Fire Department; United Way Superhero; National Service to Youth Award from the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and was a 2018 inductee to the Blinn College Alumni and Friends Hall of Honor. With her husband Leonard they have been recognized with the Amigo Award (2010) from the Hispanic Forum; Tribute Luncheon Honorees (2013) and the Champion for Children Award from Voices for Children (2017).
Sommer is the Chief Financial Officer at Blue Bell Creameries and Mutscher is a Brenham attorney specializing in real estate and business law and estate planning.
