The Blinn College District Marketing and Communications Department recently won five national marketing awards in recognition of its soccer and volleyball recruiting guide, spring 2022 registration guide, and the 2021-22 viewbook.
The Collegiate Advertising Awards and Educational Advertising Awards each recognized Blinn with their Gold Award for its volleyball and soccer recruiting guide. The publication included complete team schedules, rosters, and bios, and highlighted the Blinn Athletic Department’s outstanding facilities and academic support for student athletes. The recruiting guide was produced by Assistant Director of Marketing and Creative Services Darla Arter and Communications Specialist Arthur Hahn with support from Athletic Director Scott Schumacher and the team coaching staffs.
Both competitions selected Blinn for the Silver Award for its spring 2022 registration guide. This four-page guide was inserted into each newspaper in Blinn’s service area and outlined each step in the admissions and registration process, showing students how easy it is to begin their college careers at Blinn. The piece was developed by Arter and Director of Communications, Media Relations, and Marketing Richard Bray.
The Educational Advertising Awards also recognized Blinn with a Bronze Award for its 2021-22 viewbook, which provides incoming students an overview of the campuses and programs that make Blinn unique among Texas community colleges. Blinn’s Marketing Department worked alongside Vice Chancellor for Student Services Dr. Becky McBride and Director of Prospective Student Relations Elaine Abshire to develop the viewbook.
“We are proud to create pieces that highlight the hard work of Blinn’s faculty and staff and showcase the many reasons why Blinn College is an outstanding place for students to learn new skills and make lifelong friendships,” Bray said. “It is an honor to share Blinn’s beautiful campuses and outstanding programs with future students across the state.”
The Collegiate Advertising Awards program is a national competition honoring excellence in higher education marketing and advertising. Submissions were reviewed and scored by a national panel of industry experts, with a possibility of 100 total points. Gold awards received a judges’ score of 95 to 99 (top 5% in the nation); silver awards earned 90 to 94 (top 12% in the nation); and bronze awards earned 85 to 89 (top 16% in the nation).
The Educational Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the nation. This year’s competition received more than 2,000 entries from all 50 states and several foreign countries. Judges consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, and marketing and advertising professionals.
